The primary focus of your role will be to contribute to project delivery regarding all aspects of climate change planning processes at international level. As a consultant, you will carry out research and analysis that underpins our consultancy work. You will manage your time across several projects, contributing to research, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and report-writing. Activities include:
- Conduct surveys, collect data, analyse data and information and elaborate reports with the results of the analysis, conclusions and recommendations;
- Carry out desk-based research, interpreting data which can include using software-modelling packages or participating in their development;
- Write reports and share findings with international multi-disciplinary colleagues, clients, sub-contractors and international public institutions;
- Support the implementation of projects, liaising with external consultant and clients.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team of consultants at Gauss, adapting to different roles in the Gauss project portfolio;
- Advise on best courses of action based on research findings; and
- Provide training/capacity building activities worldwide.
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree with a background in sciences, engineering or equivalent;
- Strong interest in decarbonization, sustainability, climate change, energy transition or climate finance;
- Knowledge of data treatment and analysis;
- Very good writing skills (this will take 70-80% of the work);
- Proficient level of French or English;
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
- Problem-solving mindset and teamwork spirit;
- Other IT skills, such use of spreadsheets, databases, web sites and presentation packages;
- Project and time-management skills, as time and resources are allocated to projects and need to be monitored and adhered to good organization; you might need to manage several projects at once;
- Proactive, able to work independently and demonstrate initiative;
- A team player, able to adopt leadership and expert support roles dependent on the needs, as part of a cross-disciplinary team;
- Aptitude for using your technical knowledge creatively to address new challenges;
- Appropriate accuracy and attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strongly motivated to continue learning;
- Flexibility, resilience, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to live life outside of your comfort zone;
- Willingness to travel overseas occasionally on short-term (e.g. 1-2 week) assignments up to circa 4-6 times per year.
